Katie Britt’s Shocked Reaction as Eric Schmitt’s Misstep Unfolds in Senate Hearing
Sen. Katie Britt stunned during Senate hearing as Schmitt misidentifies college game. Viral slow zoom captures moment.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — A viral video captured Alabama Senator Katie Britt’s visible shock during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing as Missouri Republican Senator Eric Schmitt made a public misstep.
The incident occurred when Schmitt attempted to question former special counsel Jack Smith about an alleged 2024 trip to an Atlanta Hawks basketball game, suggesting it indicated coordination with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in the Trump prosecution. Schmitt accused Smith of perjury, saying, You will go down as a total dirtbag.
Smith corrected Schmitt, clarifying that the event was actually a University of Maryland women’s basketball game featuring Caitlin Clark, not an NBA match. The exchange drew criticism from Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar, who urged Schmitt to verify his facts before making accusations. Meanwhile, footage of Britt’s reaction circulated widely online, with many commenting on her stunned expression and the awkward moment.
