POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — During a CNN interview, Rep. Max Miller addressed allegations of abuse made by his ex-wife, drawing former President Donald Trump and Fox News host Pete Hegseth into the controversy. Miller used the interview to refute the claims — and sought to discredit his ex-wife’s statements.
The allegations surfaced as part of a contentious divorce — and custody battle. Miller’s ex-wife has accused him of physical — and emotional abuse, claims that Miller vehemently denies. In the CNN interview, Miller attempted to shift the narrative by involving high-profile figures.
“This is a political hit job,” Miller stated during the interview. He called for an ethics probe into the matter, suggesting that his ex-wife’s claims were politically motivated. Miller also mentioned his two-year-old daughter, expressing concern over the impact of the allegations on her.
Former President Trump and Fox News host Pete Hegseth were brought into the discussion by Miller, who implied that they supported his version of events. However, neither Trump nor Hegseth have issued public statements regarding the allegations.
The interview marks the first time Miller has faced direct questioning from a journalist about the abuse claims. Previously, he had primarily addressed the allegations through social media — and public statements.
Miller’s legal team has filed motions to dismiss the abuse claims, arguing that they lack credibility. The ex-wife’s attorneys, however, maintain that they’ve substantial evidence to support their client’s allegations.
The case continues to unfold, with both parties preparing for upcoming court hearings. The custody battle over their daughter remains a central issue in the divorce proceedings.
