POLICY WIRE — Los Angeles, United States — A federal jury has cleared rapper Lil Durk of charges related to a 2022 shooting at a Los Angeles gas station that left the cousin of rival rapper Quando Rondo dead.

The case centered on allegations that Durk conspired to have Rondo killed following a 2020 incident in which King Von, a close friend and member of Durk’s Only The Family collective, was fatally shot in Atlanta. Prosecutors claimed that a group of men, funded by Durk, targeted Rondo in Los Angeles in August 2022, resulting in the death of his 24-year-old cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.

Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, was found not guilty of conspiracy, stalking resulting in death, and murder for hire. His co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, were convicted of some stalking-related charges but also acquitted of murder for hire. The trial, which lasted two weeks, drew attention from fans and celebrities, including Machine Gun Kelly and Ye, while Durk remains in custody pending a separate racketeering trial.
