Pensioner Admits to Raping Woman Drugged by Husband for Two Decades
A 74-year-old man has pleaded guilty to raping a woman drugged by her husband for 20 years. The case follows the husband's admission to 60 abuse charges.
POLICY WIRE — Stockport, United Kingdom — A 74-year-old pensioner has entered a guilty plea for the rape of a woman who was systematically drugged by her husband for more than two decades.
Graham Brougham, identified as the oldest among 13 individuals charged in connection with the case, admitted to the offense. His plea follows a series of legal developments involving the victim, who was subjected to abuse at her family residence in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
Last month, the victim’s husband confessed to 60 separate charges related to the drugging and raping of his wife over a 20-year period. During those proceedings, the husband was observed breaking down in tears while acknowledging the crimes.
The husband, whose identity remains suppressed by court order to protect the legal rights of his wife, carried out the abuse without the victim’s knowledge. The investigation into the long-term exploitation of the woman has resulted in charges against 13 men in total.
