Paris Knife Attack: Three Women Wounded, Suspect Arrested
A man was arrested in Paris after attacking and wounding three women with kitchen knives. The incident occurred in the Porte de Clichy area.
POLICY WIRE — PARIS, FRANCE — A man was arrested on Monday after allegedly attacking and wounding three women with kitchen knives in Paris, according to the Interior Minister and police officials.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM in the Porte de Clichy area in the northern part of the capital. The three victims, aged 19, 24, — and 36, were taken to the hospital following the assault. Two of them sustained serious injuries but are not in danger of losing their lives, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez. One victim was struck in the lower back, while the other was injured in an unspecified location.
An off-duty French policeman apprehended the suspect shortly after the attack. Authorities haven’t yet disclosed the suspect’s identity or possible motives.
“The swift action of the off-duty officer prevented further harm and allowed for the immediate arrest of the suspect,” said Nunez in a press statement.
The police are investigating the incident to determine the circumstances leading to the attack and to assess the suspect’s mental state.
