POLICY WIRE — Paris, France — OVHcloud has secured France’s prestigious SecNumCloud cybersecurity certification for its public cloud services. This achievement comes as France enforces stricter regulations on the storage and processing of sensitive state data.
The French cloud provider announced that this certified service is tailored for government entities, regulated companies, and software providers in the public sector. OVHcloud plans to extend this platform to other European countries, with Italy, Germany, and Poland being the next targets, contingent on meeting national requirements.
The French National Agency for the Security of Information Systems (ANSSI) endorses solutions with its security visa. ANSSI also developed the SecNumCloud framework to enhance cloud provider offerings for public authorities and critical infrastructure operators.
With the SecNumCloud 3.2 qualification for its ultra-secure Bare Metal Pod platform, OVHcloud reinforces its dedication to public and private organizations, addressing their need for strategic autonomy.
The French government has channeled significant public cloud expenditure to OVHcloud through the “cloud de confiance” certification framework. This framework mandates that public sector cloud services adhere to French data sovereignty standards, including data residency and European-controlled operations.
