North Carolina Teen Faces Murder Charges for San Diego Mosque Shooting Livestream

POLICY WIRE — San Diego, USA — A 17-year-old from North Carolina has been charged with murder for her role in a deadly shooting at a San Diego mosque. The girl recorded the attack and shared the shooters’ white supremacist materials.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill announced the charges at a press conference. The teenager’s name was not disclosed. She was arrested last week and indicted by a grand jury just before the start of the school year.

O’Neill expressed concerns about the girl’s potential actions, especially with the approach of holy days. He clarified that under North Carolina law, aiding and abetting a crime makes one as guilty as the perpetrator.

The shooters, identified as Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, attacked the Islamic Center of San Diego on May 18. They were forced outside by a security guard, Amin Abdullah, who protected 140 children inside before being killed.

The gunmen also killed Mansour Kaziha and Nader Awad before taking their own lives. The attack was livestreamed using GoPro helmets worn by the shooters.

O’Neill revealed that the attackers planned to target a local Jewish temple and a predominantly African American high school after the mosque.

Authorities found that the teens had accumulated 30 guns and a crossbow, taken from Clark’s parents.
