POLICY WIRE — Sydney, Australia — A potentially catastrophic near-collision between a Jetstar Airbus A320 and a Qatar Airways aircraft was averted at Sydney Airport today. Both planes executed abrupt stops to prevent a collision.

Officials confirmed that a cabin crew member aboard the Jetstar A320 sustained injuries during the incident. The crew member was promptly attended to by airport medical services.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause and ensure future prevention. Both airlines are cooperating fully with the authorities.
