Missile Strikes Hit Aden Airport as Saudi-Led Coalition Intercepts Attacks on Yanbu
Yemen's Aden International Airport sustains missile damage as Saudi-led forces intercept ballistic missiles and drones targeting the Yanbu oil hub.
POLICY WIRE — Aden, Yemen — Two missiles impacted the grounds of Aden International Airport on Friday, marking the second such assault on the facility in less than a week. Local police officials attributed the strike to the Iran-aligned Houthi militia.
Simultaneously, the Saudi-led military coalition reported a series of defensive actions against incoming threats. Forces successfully intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at the Red Sea city of Yanbu, a critical Saudi oil hub that serves as a vital export route bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
Beyond the interception near Yanbu, the coalition confirmed the destruction of two cruise missiles over the Red Sea and three drones launched toward Saudi territory. Additionally, the coalition reported neutralizing a separate ballistic missile launched by the Houthis north of Riyadh.
These incidents occur as the Saudi-led coalition continues a significant military offensive aimed at dislodging Houthi rebels from strategic positions and reclaiming territory. The coalition remains a primary backer of Yemen’s internationally recognized government in the ongoing regional conflict.
