NEW YORK — Users in several countries reported problems accessing Instagram and Facebook on Tuesday afternoon, with some receiving 5xx server error messages and others unable to refresh feeds or load content.

The first incident reports reviewed by Policy Wire appeared around 5:00 p.m. ET. Third-party outage monitors showed a spike in user complaints, but Meta had not issued an official statement at the time of publication.

Policy Wire has contacted Meta for comment and is awaiting a response.

One source claimed services may take about another hour to fully recover. Policy Wire has not independently confirmed that timeline.
