In Pakistan, the first anniversary of “Marqa-e-Haq” is being marked by large-scale celebration, public gatherings, seminars, rallies, and demonstrations etc. all over the country. The observance is set to bring together the people in order to commemorate the commotion that took place in May, 2025—called by the Pakistani government and institutions as a symbol of national unity, resilience and a propensity to defend the nation. The events are happening in prominent cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad & Murree, in Shahab Centre of Naran.The events are held in the following cities Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad & Murree in Shahab Centre of Naran.
The government’s official reports and media reports state that the celebrations commenced early in May and will continue around 10 May, which the government have linked with “Youm-e-Marqa-e-Haq.” Public institutions, universities, local governments and CSO have held ceremonies to remember the armed forces and celebrate national unity.
The key highlight in relation to the celebrations is the allocation of a special budget of almost Rs59.6million by the Economic Co-ordinating Committee (ECC). Those moneys were earmarked for a nationwide selection of events surrounding the anniversary. The commemoration is reported to be funded for public programs, ceremonies, media activities, and for the nation.
The Punjab government set up decoration at various spots in Lahore, float arrangements, concerts, and lighting. The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) erected special structures at Race Course Park to acknowledge the Army, Navy and Air Force. A big public concert, ‘Azm-e-Aalishan’ was also arranged at the Liberty Chowk where people can go and enjoy it free of charge.
High schools, colleges and universities have contributed significantly to the festivities. The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar hosted a successful week-long event, beginning from April 30. These comprised of English and Urdu speech competitions, model exhibitions based on Artificial Intelligence, science model exhibitions, video competitions and poster competitions. All the students came from various institutions, they were creative and demonstrated their patriotism. The reason is to sensitise, innovate and think critically among young people, said the university officials.
Likewise, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore and Lahore College for Women University (LCW) organized ceremonies, seminars and walks. Conferences celebrated included the parade of the flag, the recitation of the national anthem, patriotic songs, and talks for the issues of peace, national integration and how the young people can participate in promoting social harmony. At these events, the speaker called Marqa-e-Haq a symbol of unity, sacrifice and national determination.
Rawalpindi Medical University organized an event for teachers and students and they said that they remembered the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces of Pakistan. These ceremonies were also seen in other schools around the country.
The participation in the celebrations was commendable in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which observed some of the biggest demonstrations. It was reported that rallies and seminars were held between Dera Ismail Khan and Kohistan and Waziristan and Chitral. There was a large turnout of students, transport workers, labourers and members of the local community engaged in large numbers. The events demonstrated the unity and support of the people towards national security institutions, the organizers said.
Local administration arranged fireworks display, live concerts, road décor, light up, billboards and banners in Faisalabad. Organising activities was the responsibility of government departments, traders, industrialists and educational institutions. Festival was also expanded up to the level of Tehsils for getting people’s participation.
Through the Murree district administration, detailed planning was completed for the event. Departments were instructed to keep public buildings secure, maintain traffic control, mobilize rescue operations, clean and equip them in colors and symbols of the Nation. The goal of these activities was “to spread a message of patriotism and a sense of unity,” police authorities said.
Italy organised political events around the anniversary including the participation of the leaders of different political parties. The political party chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described Marqa-e-Haq as “national solidarity and collective will”. He added that Pakistan was united from the heights of the northwest to Arabian Sea during his visit to Karachi.
Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad also organized a symposium on “Marqa-e-Haq: A Catalyst for National Integration.” The event addressed the themes of psychological resilience, counter-extremism and social cohesion. The speakers highlighted the necessity for unity and collective strength when it comes to national development.
As reported in 2025, “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos” began on 10 May 2025, in response to Indian military operations. The operation has been termed as a well planned and proportionate response to guarantee the national sovereignty by Pakistani authorities.
The celebrations of Marqa-e-Haq now going on in Pakistan are a reflection of the efforts being made to foster patriotism, unity and remembrance in the country. The commemoration activities are being carried out by different sectors of society, which include universities, public institutions, city administration, political leaders, etc. The anniversary has started to be a symbol of the nation and a public manifestation of national identity, events still taking place across the nation.
