POLICY WIRE — United Kingdom — Trevor Dunkley, a 66-year-old former boyfriend, has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for the 1998 murder of a mother of seven. The conviction follows his guilty plea to killing Patricia Lashley, who vanished 28 years ago.
Dunkley confessed to officers during a visit related to a long-running missing person inquiry. On July 7 of this year, he made a shocking admission, explicitly stating that he killed Lashley.
According to court details, the defendant told police he waited several months before disposing of her decomposed remains. He revealed that he placed the body in household waste, an act that formed the basis for a secondary charge.
In court, Dunkley not only pleaded guilty to the murder but also admitted to preventing the lawful burial of the victim. The legal proceedings concluded with the lengthy custodial sentence for the crime committed nearly three decades ago.
