A 33-year-old man faces assault charges after allegedly attacking three Jewish women, including a mother pushing a pram, in east London.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A 33-year-old man appeared in court Wednesday to face charges following a series of alleged assaults against three Jewish women in north and east London.
Abdisamad Siad, 33, was brought before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court to answer to three counts of assault by beating. Prosecutors allege the incidents occurred on Monday afternoon in the vicinity of Clapton Common and Stamford Hill.
The court heard testimony detailing how one of the victims was struck in the face while she was actively pushing her daughter in a pram. All three women involved in the alleged attacks are Orthodox Jews and reportedly sustained minor injuries during the encounters.
Authorities confirmed that a suspect was apprehended on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault after CCTV footage captured an individual punching a woman in the head as she navigated a street with a pram. The investigation into the events remains ongoing.
