Kremlin Confirms Ongoing Talks on Trump-Announced Energy Ceasefire with Ukraine
Kremlin says energy ceasefire talks with Ukraine continue after Trump's claim. No official confirmation yet.
POLICY WIRE — Moscow, Russia — The Kremlin confirmed on Tuesday that discussions are ongoing regarding an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement over the weekend.
Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS that while talks are continuing, there is no further information to share at this time. He stated, Contacts are ongoing. As soon as we have anything to say on the matter, we will be sure to let you know.
Trump claimed Sunday that an agreement had been reached for a partial ceasefire focused on energy infrastructure, but neither Moscow nor Kyiv has officially confirmed the deal. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the proposal a potential breakthrough, though he said it was news to him when first informed of the claim.
