Kremlin Aide Claims Putin Ready to Answer Direct Call from Zelenskyy
Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirms Vladimir Putin would respond to a phone call from Volodymyr Zelensky as diplomatic signals emerge from Ukraine.
POLICY WIRE — Moscow, Russia — Russian President Vladimir Putin remains prepared to receive a direct telephone communication from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to a high-ranking Kremlin official.
Yuri Ushakov, a senior aide to the Russian leader, stated that Putin would undoubtedly answer the phone if the leader from Kyiv chose to reach out.
In comments provided to journalist Pavel Zarubin of the Vesti news agency on November 1, Ushakov emphasized that Putin has a history of not declining opportunities for negotiation.
The aide noted that the Russian president has never refused to engage in such talks, suggesting the door remains open despite the ongoing conflict.
Ushakov further indicated that Ukraine is currently transmitting messages through multiple diplomatic channels, signaling potential interest in high-level engagement.
While expressing openness to communication, Ushakov maintained that Zelenskyy would need to travel to Moscow if he desired a face-to-face meeting with Putin.
These statements come as both nations continue to exchange missile strikes across the region.
