Jeremy Clarkson reveals extreme security at Diddly Squat to stop diesel theft and other rural crimes, as he discusses challenges on his farm.
POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Jeremy Clarkson has disclosed the high-security measures in place at his Diddly Squat farm to prevent theft, including advanced technology that he claims surpasses the security of Fort Knox and the Federal Reserve.
The TV presenter, known for his role on Top Gear, has been documenting his farming journey on Amazon Prime Video’s Clarkson’s Farm since 2021. He purchased the 1,000-acre property in 2008 and has since overseen its operations, earning two National Television Awards and producing five seasons of the show.
In a recent column for The Times, Clarkson described the prevalence of theft in rural areas, noting that items such as quad bikes, hedge trimmers, and especially diesel are frequently stolen. He compared the security of his diesel tanks to the three most secure locations in the world, stating they are even more protected than Fort Knox, the Federal Reserve, and the Global Seed Vault.

Clarkson also addressed other issues on his land, including hare coursers who use dogs to hunt hares and live stream the activity for online gamblers. He admitted to avoiding confrontation with these individuals due to the risk of violence. Additionally, he mentioned encounters with fly-tippers and people engaging in public sexual acts, including an instance where he discovered a man in the act of self-pleasure while driving by.
The presenter shared his future plans, expressing interest in creating an ambitious new television project, possibly similar to Celebrity Traitors. He emphasized the need for television to offer unique and extraordinary content, suggesting that traditional shows like gardening programs may struggle to remain relevant without standout elements.
