On Friday, June 13, 2025, just before dawn, Israel launched a massive and unprecedented attack on Tehran, Iran’s capital. The attack on nuclear sites and military bases killed General Mohammad Bagheri, the head of Iranian military, and General Hossein Salami, the leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This is historic strike, one of the greatest military exchanges between Israel and Iran in decades, which is going to cause even further instability to an already unstable Middle East.
The magnitude of the attack, which was code named by Israel as “Operation Rising Lion”, resonates of the theme of aggression in the 6-7 May Indian attack against Pakistan. That also was an immediate, judicious blow meant to threaten and harass a Muslim neighbour. There is growing conviction that both of these developments are not singular, they are part of a concerted process of aggression that is taking shape what is being viewed by many as the Yahood-Hanood nexus, an increasingly close alliance of Zionist and Hindutva forces against the Islamic world.
To retaliate the attack by Israel, Iran sent more than 100 drones to attack Israeli territory. Though the majority of them were allegedly detected by the Israeli defence shield, the area is now at the brink of the fully-fledged war. International oil markets responded strongly to these developments with Brent crude prices surging up by over 8%, suggesting a concern of an extended period of conflict that could affect energy supplies. Civil aviation in states such as Iraq, Jordan, and Iran grounded to a stop, with security alerts on the rise.
In justification of the operation, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pointed at dangers of Iranian nuclear ambitions and said it was necessary to put an end to these dangers, “finally.” Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei described the attack as a “villainous act of crime” and threatened to retaliate hard. One of the facilities struck was the well-fortified Natanz nuclear plant. The Iranian press also confirmed the deaths of the vital nuclear scientists, which was a great loss to the military leadership and scientific foundation of Iran.
The fallout of this face-off is being experienced by the entire region and particularly in Pakistan; a nation that finds itself at a strategic juncture of both South and West Asia. Pakistan has formally declared to seek calm and diplomatic dialogue to reduce tension. But an increasing number of people in Islamabad recognize that the attacks are being carried out as part of a larger strategic alignment- a continuing and very present threat in the Yahood-Hanood nexus which has publicly expressed its antagonism toward Muslim-majority states.
This is the same alliance that saw Israel throw its full support behind India during Marka-e-Haq and Bunyanum Marsoos. Now, Yahood has itself struck Iran in a pattern similar to how Hanood struck Pakistan just a few weeks ago. The timeline and tactics suggest a deliberate strategic echo, aimed at asserting dominance and testing the resolve of the Islamic world. This latest Israeli aggression, therefore, must not be seen in isolation—it is the sequel to India’s brazen attack on Pakistan.
Alhamdulillah, Pakistan stood firm during the May 6–7 attack. The strength and unity of the Pakistani Armed Forces crushed the enemy’s ambitions. If Pakistan had not responded with such clarity and power, today our fate could have mirrored that of Iran, facing the devastation of leadership and infrastructure. That moment of resolve demonstrated that strong defense, national unity, and preparation are the only shields against this axis of hostility.
However, the threat is far from over. The Yahood-Hanood nexus is no longer a distant theory, it is an active and alarming reality. This alliance is now knocking on Pakistan’s door. We must fully brace ourselves and transform into a harder security state, resilient both internally and externally. Strengthening our Armed Forces, stabilizing the economy, and maintaining internal political cohesion are no longer optional—they are national imperatives.
Pakistan must rise to become a net regional stabilizer. While countries like Jordan and Iraq scramble to defend themselves and avoid getting entangled, Pakistan’s geographical and strategic position requires it to take a more active role in safeguarding regional peace and resisting external aggressions. The time has come to lead, not just react.
Looking ahead, we must prepare harder for the next war imposed by Hanood and Yahood. The coming confrontation will not be fought only with missiles and drones, it will be fought on economic, cyber, and ideological fronts as well. Our national strategy must reflect this multidimensional threat. We must build a strong and self-reliant Pakistan, capable of withstanding future aggression while maintaining peace in the region.
The conflict between Israel and Iran has highlighted the fragility of peace. The calls for diplomacy have so far been drowned out by the roar of warplanes and missile strikes. Civilians—innocent families in both Tehran and Tel Aviv, are the ones paying the highest price. As the world debates next steps, the question remains whether global leaders will choose peace or allow the cycle of violence to further engulf the region.
As world heavy weights such as the United States dissociate themselves with the Israeli attack and call on both parties to exercise restraint, the international community is now at cross roads. Will it permit a bully axis to redefine the region at the cost of tranquillity and sovereignty or will it rise to the occasion and facilitate a new system of dialogue?
Now smoke is coming up both in Tehran and Tel Aviv. The global community is waiting and worrying about what tomorrow will offer. One thing however is definite, the countries of the Muslim world, notably Pakistan, cannot be taken unawares. Yahood-Hanood nexus exists and the threat is increasing.
Pakistan must remain vigilant, remain strong, and remain united, because the next move in this game may target us once again.
