POLICY WIRE — Tehran, Iran — Iran’s national security chief has stipulated a series of conditions that the United States must fulfill before Tehran will consider reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Key demands include the lifting of the US naval blockade of Iranian ports, compensation for war damages, and the release of frozen Iranian assets.

In a separate development, Iran and Oman have indicated they’re nearing an agreement on the management of the strategic waterway. This announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the region.
