ICICI Bank Q2 Profit Surges 20% as Loan Demand and Asset Quality Boost Results
ICICI Bank reports a 20.1% rise in Q2 net profit to Rs 14,843 crore, exceeding market expectations behind strong loan growth and improved asset quality.
POLICY WIRE — Mumbai, India — ICICI Bank, the nation’s second-largest private sector lender, announced a robust financial performance for the second quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year on Saturday. The bank reported a 20.1% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit, reaching Rs 14,843 crore.
This growth surpassed market expectations, fueled by a significant rise in loan demand and a reduction in provisions set aside for bad loans. The profit figure marks a notable climb from the Rs 12,359 crore recorded during the same period in the previous year.
Financial filings indicate that net interest income, which represents the gap between interest earned and interest paid, climbed 17.7% to reach Rs 25,339 crore. The bank also highlighted improved asset quality and a surge in both advances and deposits as key contributors to the quarterly success.
