POLICY WIRE — Angers, France — A French state-owned company has significantly boosted its supercomputer manufacturing capabilities, doubling monthly output as part of a broader push to strengthen Europe’s artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The company, known as Bull, reopened an expanded facility in Angers on October 1, 2026, with the goal of producing 12 supercomputer racks per month—up from six before the upgrade. This move comes amid increased European efforts to reduce dependence on foreign technology and build domestic computing power.

Bull recently secured a €387.8 million contract to develop a new AI-focused supercomputer, marking its largest order to date.
