POLICY WIRE — Los Angeles, United States — Jonathan Lipnicki, best known for his early role in Jerry Maguire, made a rare red carpet appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of the psychological crime thriller Primetime.
The 35-year-old actor, who first appeared on screen at age five alongside Renée Zellweger and Tom Cruise, has been largely absent from public events in recent years. His last red carpet sighting was at Film Threat’s Award This! in 2021, with the Jewish Media Awards in 2024 being another exception.
Lipnicki stars in the film, which is based on the production of NBC’s To Catch a Predator. The movie, released September 25, features Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, and fellow former child star Skyler Gisondo. He described the role as a bold choice, stating that actors often seek challenging material to test their craft.

Reflecting on his journey, Lipnicki shared how being a child actor brought immense pressure, including intrusive questions about drug use during promotional events for Stuart Little. He said taking on this role allowed him to release some of that burden and focus on his artistic growth.
Despite feeling his adult career hasn’t met his expectations, Lipnicki remains committed to acting. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he believes in the path ahead and continues to take deliberate steps to shape his future in the industry.
