Federal Judge Dismisses Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman
A federal judge has dismissed a civil sexual abuse lawsuit filed against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman by his sister, citing that the claims were untimely.
POLICY WIRE — Missouri, USA — A federal judge has officially dismissed a civil lawsuit brought against OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman by his sister, Annie Altman. The legal action had centered on allegations of repeated sexual abuse and rape dating back to their childhood.
U.S. District Judge Zachary Bluestone issued the ruling on Friday, determining that the claims were untimely due to the significant amount of time that has passed since the alleged incidents occurred. The court noted that the accusations spanned nearly a decade, taking place more than twenty years ago.
While the current complaint was dismissed on procedural grounds, Judge Bluestone granted Annie Altman the opportunity to revise and refile her legal claims. Sam Altman has consistently denied the allegations throughout the duration of the case.
In a separate development, the court has also permitted Sam Altman to proceed with a defamation countersuit against his sister. The legal proceedings follow an earlier amendment to the original civil filing made by Annie Altman on April 1.
