Fatal School Bus Collision in Winter Haven Leaves Two Dead
A tragic school bus crash in Winter Haven, Florida, has resulted in two deaths, including a 10th grade student. Authorities are investigating the scene.
POLICY WIRE — Winter Haven, USA — A tragic collision involving a school bus in Central Florida on Monday morning has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a 10th grade student, according to local law enforcement.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Old Lucerne Park Road. The school bus was traveling eastbound when it was struck by a westbound Chevy Malibu.
The impact caused the bus to lose control and shed a tire before colliding head-on with a Jeep, which subsequently overturned. In total, three additional vehicles were caught up in the multi-car accident.
Officials confirmed that the deceased student was a passenger on the bus, while the second fatality was an occupant of the Jeep. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

At the time of the crash, the bus was transporting 39 people, including 37 high school students en route to Winter Haven High School. The remaining two passengers were identified as the bus driver and their 9-year-old daughter.
The sheriff’s office stated on Facebook, Two people have been killed: a 10th Grade girl and an occupant from one of the other vehicles.
Authorities have closed Lucerne Park Road in both directions to facilitate the investigation. Commuters are being advised to seek alternative travel routes.
