Ex-Fox News Executive Accuses Network of Ignoring Kimberly Guilfoyle Scandal
Former Fox exec claims network avoids coverage of Kimberly Guilfoyle's scandal, despite widespread reporting.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — A former senior executive at Fox News has accused the network of deliberately avoiding coverage of a major scandal involving U.S. ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was once a host on the channel.
Kenneth LaCorte, who served as vice president and senior executive producer of FoxNews.com from 2006 to 2016, stated that the network’s lack of online reporting on allegations against Guilfoyle appears to be a deliberate choice rather than an oversight.
The accusations come after The Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle allegedly sought $100,000 from a wealthy Trump supporter to cover her credit card debt in exchange for political favors. Despite widespread media coverage of the claim, LaCorte said Fox had not published any recent stories about it, with the last mention dating back to December 10, 2024, the day President Trump announced her appointment as ambassador.
LaCorte suggested that the silence stemmed from “fear and inaction by middle management” rather than an explicit directive from upper leadership. He also warned that the network’s reluctance to report on the issue could damage its credibility among supporters.
A source familiar with internal operations at Fox News indicated that editorial decisions are not made by top executives, but rather by mid-level staff. The source added that the website saw a significant increase in traffic after LaCorte left, growing from 17 million unique visitors to 163 million across platforms.
The Wall Street Journal’s report included messages between Guilfoyle and a donor, which she later disputed as fake. Meanwhile, another investigation revealed that Guilfoyle had reportedly raged over not being invited to a Trump family event, with leaked audio showing her expressing frustration and leveraging connections for personal gain.
The State Department is currently looking into whether Guilfoyle received gifts or favors from private individuals during her tenure as ambassador. Despite these developments, Fox News only covered the latest reports online several hours after LaCorte’s public critique.
