POLICY WIRE — Miami, United States — Two senior Cuban men, aged 73 and 89, were taken into custody after police discovered a large quantity of drugs and firearms during a raid on their home in Miami.

The operation followed an undercover investigation that began in August, when an agent reportedly bought a $60 bag of cocaine from one of the suspects at his residence. On Wednesday, law enforcement officers, including a SWAT team, conducted a search of the property, according to official reports.

During the raid, authorities recovered 141 grams of cocaine in small plastic bags, 1,278 grams of marijuana also stored in individual packages, a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver, and a Sig R365 .9mm handgun, along with ammunition for both weapons. The revolver had been reported stolen from another county, while the handgun was flagged in Doral. Both individuals are currently held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges including armed cocaine trafficking and grand theft of a firearm.
