POLICY WIRE — London, UK — EasyJet has agreed to a £5.7 billion acquisition by US private-equity firm Apollo. The deal, announced today, ensures that no job cuts will occur for at least a year post-acquisition.
Apollo has pledged to maintain current employment levels as part of the transition. The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals — and shareholder consent.
“We’re committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the high standards of service that EasyJet is known for,” said an Apollo representative.
EasyJet CEO Johan Lundgren stated, “This acquisition presents an opportunity for EasyJet to leverage Apollo’s resources while ensuring the continuity of our operations and workforce.”
The deal is expected to close in the coming months, pending the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
