In Gaza City’s charred rubble, where dust filled the air from non-stop Israeli shelling, a fire of unrelenting resistance burns more fiercely than ever before. As we commemorate two years of this senseless war on September 25, 2025, Israel’s unrestrained brutality continues unrelenting, advancing further into Palestinian lands with tanks and drones that reap death and devastation. However, in the midst of famine, displacement, and genocide, yes, genocide, as verified by the United Nations Commission of Inquiry just last week, Gaza remains defiant. This is not survival; it is resistance personified, a testament to the Palestinian people’s indomitable will, and in this international theater of injustice, Pakistan is a beacon of moral courage, mobilizing global support to counter Israel’s impunity.
Israel’s “push on” is nothing less than a deliberate campaign of destruction. Recent accounts on the ground are grim: more than 68,000 Palestinians dead since October 2023, with attacks on September 24 alone killing 85 in Nuseirat refugee camp and outside hospitals. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have destroyed tunnels, knocked down tower blocks, and attacked queues for aid, all in support of a blockade that has increased famine deaths to 441. This is not defense; it is ethnic cleansing coated in the language of security. The UN’s scathing report on 16th September openly blames Israel for deliberate starvation, attacks on healthcare and education infrastructure, and incitement by leaders such as Prime Minister Netanyahu. How is the world to stand by and see children wait in line for water and be greeted with missiles?
Then there is Gaza’s magnificent defiance. Palestinians, ready themselves for urban defiance, converting trash into fortresses. More than 500,000 driven out of Gaza City since September begin to refuse to disappear; they protest, they march, they persevere. Social media platforms such as X are filled with tales of resilience, families sharing iftar amid bombardment, artists painting murals of hope on bombed buildings. This is the resilience that has characterized Palestinian identity for decades. Against Israel’s technological prowess, drones, AI-controlled bombings, and a fat defense budget, Gaza’s citizens have one last weapon: their humanity.
Enter Pakistan, which has long stood up for Palestine. With Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Pakistan has turned solidarity into action. During the UN General Assembly this week, Dar’s emotional address reiterated backing for a Palestinian state on 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Pakistan’s call for UNRWA funding, Gaza reconstruction, and a Muslim-led peacekeeping force resonates globally, joining the “Global Alliance for Implementation of the Two-State Solution.” Domestically, organizations like the Alkhidmat Foundation have dispatched over 100 tons of aid. Pakistan’s “paradox,” as it has been called by some analysts, strong diplomacy abroad coupled with managed protests at home, underscores a strategic backlash that seeks to put global coalitions ahead of irresponsible confrontation.
Pakistan’s position is not an anomaly; it reinforces a rising tide of international backing for Palestine. More than 80% of UN member countries now acknowledge Palestinian statehood, with France, the UK, Canada, and Belgium joining on September 22. Countrywide strikes in Italy, diplomatic censure by Japan and Australia, these are not token gestures but a global condemnation of Israel’s apartheid course of action. Pakistan’s stewardship in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has been critical, calling for investigations of war crimes and insisting on ICJ compliance. By promising to bring up Palestine at all venues, including discussions with U.S. President Trump, Pakistan stands as a moral anchor in a world lost at sea.
Gaza’s resistance, sparks from a global awakening: from X hashtag campaigns like #FreePalestine that trend with millions of messages to academic boycotts and corporate divestment. Pakistan’s pro-Palestine campaign is more than diplomacy; it’s an umbilical cord, from delivering aid MoUs and roundtables to mobilizing support.
As Israel continues to advance with its genocidal plans, the world needs to resist more. Gaza’s citizens are not owed condolences but justice, statehood, and liberty. Pakistan’s unshakeable support is a shining example: solidarity is not a choice; it’s a necessity. In this age of resistance, let us listen to the rallying cry from Gaza’s streets and Pakistan’s corridors, end occupation, impose accountability, and establish a Palestine that flourishes. The tide is running out; Israel’s isolation increases. In the interests of humanity, let us see that it turns resoundingly towards peace.
