POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A 24-year-old university dropout has been convicted of murder following a calculated and lethal attack at an Airbnb property. Deepak Sandhu was found guilty of killing 39-year-old Xiaoqing Ke in an act described by prosecutors as a brutal and fatal revenge.
The Old Bailey heard that Sandhu, who had previously fabricated claims about working as a model and actor, targeted the victim after she rejected him. The confrontation occurred after Ms. Ke discovered that Sandhu had been stealing from her and had been dishonest about his background.
Evidence presented in court revealed that Sandhu purchased knives at an Asda supermarket before traveling to Earl’s Court in west London to carry out the assault. Ms. Ke was discovered lying face down in a bedroom at the property.
Authorities apprehended Sandhu at Birmingham Airport as he attempted to flee the country. The jury delivered the guilty verdict following the presentation of evidence regarding the premeditated nature of the attack.
