Two 24-year-old college friends were struck by a subway train in NYC after appearing unaware of its approach, reports say.

The incident occurred just after 3 a.m. Sunday, with the woman reportedly attempting to pull the man toward her before the No. 4 train hit them, sources told The New York Post. A video shared online captured the pair seated on the tracks moments before the collision.

The train operator tried to apply the emergency brake but was unable to stop the train in time, amNewYork reported. Both individuals were found under the train and pronounced dead at the scene.
