POLICY WIRE — Beijing/Shanghai — Chinese President Xi Jinping engaged in a series of high-level diplomatic discussions with leaders from Slovakia and Namibia in Beijing, as well as with heads of state from Cambodia, Thailand, and Kazakhstan in Shanghai during July.

The meetings in Shanghai took place on the sidelines of the World AI Conference. Xi hosted North Korean Premier Pak Thae-song in Beijing following his state visit and meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in June.

To date this year, Xi has met with 26 national leaders, including US President Donald Trump. Indications suggest that three more meetings may be on the horizon.
