POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — Three individuals, including a child, were killed in Russian missile attacks near Kyiv, according to local authorities. The strikes occurred overnight, amid warnings from President Volodymyr Zelensky about Ukraine’s dwindling supplies of missile interceptors.
President Zelensky had previously cautioned that Ukraine’s capacity to defend against such attacks is increasingly compromised due to limited resources. “Our supplies of missile interceptors are running critically low,” Zelensky stated in a recent address.
The attacks mark a continuation of Russia’s aggressive tactics in the region, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and civilian casualties. Local emergency services confirmed the fatalities — and are assessing the extent of the damage.
This development comes as international pressure mounts on Russia to cease its military operations. The United Nations and several global leaders have condemned the attacks, calling for an immediate de-escalation of hostilities.
