POLICY WIRE — Auburn, USA — The Auburn Tigers baseball team has impressively re-entered the top 10 of this week’s USA TODAY Coaches Poll, a significant achievement following their third consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) series victory.
This resurgence comes after the Tigers claimed two out of three games against the Florida Gators during a weekend series held in Gainesville. Consequently, Auburn now holds the No. 9 position in the national rankings, marking their return to the elite tier for the first time since their No. 5 ranking on March 23.
Tigers’ Dominant Performance Fuels Climb
The recent series loss had a notable impact on the Florida Gators, who saw their ranking drop from No. 18 to No. 22. Prior to their encounter with Auburn, Florida had experienced a six-spot ascent to No. 18 after successfully securing a series win against Georgia in Athens.
The latest poll highlights a strong showing for the SEC, with multiple teams featured prominently. Three SEC teams are currently positioned within the top 10, emphasizing the conference’s competitive landscape in college baseball.

Conference Powerhouses and National Contenders
Alongside Auburn at No. 9, other highly-ranked teams in the top 10 include No. 4 Texas, No. 5 Georgia, and No. 7 Texas A&M. A substantial number of SEC programs are represented across the entire Coaches Poll, underscoring the conference’s depth.
- No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs
- No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies
- No. 9 Auburn Tigers
- No. 11 Mississippi State Bulldogs
- No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide
- No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels
- No. 22 Florida Gators
- No. 24 Arkansas Razorbacks
Beyond conference rivals, three of Auburn’s non-SEC opponents also made it into this week’s top 25: Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Nebraska. Additionally, Jax State, another non-conference foe, garnered 33 votes, indicating a strong performance trajectory.
This impressive climb reflects the team’s consistent effort and strategic play, positioning them as a formidable contender in the national collegiate baseball scene.
