POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A self-styled fantasist who carried out a brutal and fatal revenge attack against a woman at an Airbnb rental has been handed a prison sentence of at least 28 years.
The perpetrator, 24-year-old university dropout Deepak Sandhu, targeted the victim after she rejected him and discovered he had stolen from her while spreading falsehoods.
Prior to executing the lethal assault, Sandhu purchased knives from an Asda store before traveling to the short-term rental property.
The offender, who had previously fabricated claims about working as a model and actor, was apprehended by authorities before he could successfully escape through Birmingham Airport.
Court proceedings revealed that the violent confrontation stemmed from the victim rejecting the killer and exposing his pattern of theft and deception.
