Aaron Judge Omitted from Yankees’ Division Series Roster Amid Calf Strain
Yankees' Aaron Judge left off Division Series roster as he recovers from calf strain. Manager explains decision.
POLICY WIRE — St. Petersburg, Fla. — New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge was omitted from the team’s AL Division Series roster against the Tampa Bay Rays as he continues to recover from a right calf strain.
Judge, a three-time American League MVP, has not played since Sept. 16 and was sidelined earlier this season with a fractured rib. He appeared in only 66 games, hitting .241 with 18 home runs and 41 RBIs. Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the decision was made to ensure Judge is fully ready for the postseason.

Boone emphasized that Judge’s health and readiness were the main concerns, stating, He wanted to be on, and was willing to do anything. But for us to potentially have a version of Aaron back, I feel like he needs this week to continue to hit, continue to ramp up the running and moving and all those things.
