POLICY WIRE — Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — Malaysia won’t alter its long-standing policy prohibiting Israeli nationals from entering the country, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim declared on Wednesday. Anwar emphasized that Malaysia’s stance is in compliance with international laws.

“I would like to respond to the United States lawmakers, some of them at least, who stated categorically that Malaysia is in contravention of international laws and was disrespectful of the rights of nations,” Anwar said.

The Prime Minister’s comments come in response to criticism from certain US lawmakers who have argued that Malaysia’s policy is in violation of international norms. Anwar firmly refuted these claims, asserting that Malaysia’s actions are within its sovereign rights.

“This policy is a reflection of our national stance and is consistent with our foreign policy principles,” Anwar added.
