POLICY WIRE — Douglas, Isle of Man — A prominent former competitor in the Isle of Man TT races, Ed Poole, has tragically passed away at the age of 79 following a motorcycle crash during a recent test session on the island.
The incident, which occurred at the Jurby Circuit on April 11, involved only Poole, according to confirmation from the Andreas Racing Association. He was participating in an Auto Cycle Union (ACU) sanctioned test day when the fatal event took place.
A Legacy on the Mountain Course
Hailing from Rhencullen on the Isle of Man, Poole was a highly experienced rider with a storied career spanning over two and a half decades. His journey on the challenging Mountain Course began in 1994, marking the start of a long and dedicated involvement in various prestigious races.
Throughout his extensive career, Poole competed fiercely in the renowned Isle of Man TT, the demanding Manx Grand Prix, and the popular Classic TT. His commitment to the sport mirrored the dedication observed in athletes across all disciplines, including major college sports programs.
