Pakistan again condemned the vicious Israeli army attack on Gaza and reiterated its firm solidarity with the establishment of an independent and thriving Palestinian state. The statements of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar are a stark reminder of the growing alarmist fear at Israel’s relentless aggressive behavior in the region, which saw a horrific number of innocent victims killed, with many of them being civilians. Pakistan’s appeal to the global community to unite and stop the “killer path” of Israel is a timely and urgent call for peace and justice to reign supreme in the Middle East.
Israel’s anti-Gaza campaign has slaughtered over 56,000 people, the majority of whom were civilians. The colossal number is a testament to the indiscriminate nature of the Israelis’ attacks that have brought unimaginable suffering to the people of Gaza. The death toll rises ever higher, and the world watches in horror as children, women, and old people are victims of the brutality. Gaza is not just a humanitarian crisis; it is a heinous desecration of international law, and the world should revolt against such atrocities.
It is not just a section of Pakistan condemning Israel’s actions in terms of addressing the humanitarian crisis. It raises the question of the broader context of Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territory and its combined efforts to degrade the rights of the Palestinians. Pakistan has been a long-standing advocate of Palestinian self-determination and has insisted all these years on the establishment of a Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. This conforms to international law and the UN resolutions, which time and again confirmed the right of the Palestinian people to their own independent state.
In denouncing Israel’s indiscriminate murder of women and children and its employing hunger as a weapon, Pakistan is placing the measured steps of Israel in stark relief to shatter the will of the Palestinian people. Starvation as a weapon of war is deplorable, an action that violates simple human rights and international accords. It’s unimaginable that a state would stoop so low as to use such tactics in a bid to subjugate a population. Targeting humanitarian aid workers and civilian infrastructure is also proof enough of Israel’s disregard for international humanitarian law that prohibits the intentional targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in armed conflict.
Pakistan remained steadfast in its support of the Palestinian cause since then and has denounced Israel as a reflection of this solid stand. The country’s powerful argument on Palestine is not just a geopolitical position; it is an ethical and moral obligation. Pakistan sees the plight of the Palestinian people because their right to self-determination has been usurped from them illegally for centuries. The Palestinian issue is a stain on the collective human conscience, and the demands of Pakistan for justice are in sympathy with the oppressed and the marginalized.
America’s complicity in Israeli behavior cannot be ruled out. Being Israel’s best buddy, America has provided political and military support, without which Israel could pursue its military campaigns and speed up its illegal settlements in occupied Palestinian territory. Blatant disregard of international law and undermining of regional peace in this way only adds to the disturbances in the region and amounts to undermining of international security.
Pakistan has always been in support of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian issue peacefully, and the news of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel is bringing hope for a peaceful future. Pakistan’s peace policy and diplomacy being a conflict resolver is one the world cannot help but pay attention to. The Middle East has to end the cycle of violence and the world must come together and hold accountable those who are driving the war.
The Middle East has never required a lasting and just peace more urgently than now. Pakistan’s call for the international community to take concrete action in an attempt to stop Israel’s aggressive actions is a call to stop the humiliation of human beings and protect innocent lives. Establishment of an independent Palestinian state without the occupation of Israel and aggression by Israel is not a matter of political convenience; it’s a matter of justice and human rights.
Pakistan’s ongoing solidarity with Palestine and denunciation of Israel’s crimes reflect the country’s determination to uphold the principles of justice, equality, and self-determination. The international community needs to stand together with the Palestinian nation and demand a halt to Israel’s cannibalistic activities in Gaza and across Palestine. Pakistan’s call for the unconditional halting of Israel’s aggression is not a diplomatic gesture; it’s a cry for peace, justice, and restoration of Palestinian rights. It is time to act, and it is a responsibility of the world community to act with urgency and commitment that this crisis demands.
