Thousands Swarm Grand Opening of Massive New Vallejo Costco After Decades Wait
Shoppers waited two days to enter the brand-new Admiral Callaghan Costco warehouse in Vallejo, ending a 15-year local development project.
POLICY WIRE — Vallejo, California — Thousands of customers gathered on Friday to celebrate the grand opening of a brand-new Costco warehouse in Vallejo.
The Admiral Callaghan location, situated on Plaza Drive, saw a massive turnout as members lined up to access the facility. The demand for the new store was so high that some shoppers began camping out on site at least two days before the doors officially opened.
This opening marks the end of a lengthy 15-year journey to bring the warehouse to the Bay Area. The new facility is located approximately one mile away from the city’s original Costco site.
While the company had been seeking to relocate its Vallejo operations since 2011, the long frustrations regarding traffic and inconvenience at the old location seemed to be forgotten upon the successful launch.
The new super-sized warehouse is significantly larger than the previous location, providing more space for the thousands of shoppers who arrived on Friday morning.
