POLICY WIRE — Washington, DC — On Saturday, President Donald Trump urged the Justice Department to launch a probe into Democratic leaders after they announced plans to scrutinize his administration and Republican donors.
Trump said he instructed the DOJ to investigate what he described as threatening conduct by Democrats, but did not identify specific letters, senders or recipients.
He also denounced the party’s calls for impeachment of cabinet officials as extortion, calling Democratic lawmakers extortionists and demanding the DOJ look into the alleged threats.
