POLICY WIRE — Washington, USA — Rubio says President Donald Trump is seeking a peaceful resolution to the Iran war even as Tehran and the United States prepare for possible strikes.
Analysts note that following the recent U.S. midterm elections, intelligence reports indicate each side is positioning for additional military action.
“He has not made a decision, and I have no announcement to make in that regard today,” Rubio told Al Araby TV when asked about Trump’s comment that any renewed attacks on Iran could be brief and successful. He added that the president prefers to settle the crisis through diplomacy.
Rubio also emphasized that no firm deadline has been set for diplomatic talks, while the administration retains the option to resume air strikes if necessary.
The senator reiterated that President Trump has not yet decided on launching fresh strikes, as peace negotiations remain stalled.
