POLICY WIRE — Riga, Latvia — Latvia’s armed forces disclosed that a short-lived intrusion entered the nation’s airspace close to the frontiers with Belarus and Russia on Sunday.
The unidentified flying object prompted military officials to advise people living near the affected zone to remain inside their homes for safety.
In a broadcast, the forces announced, We inform you that there is a threat in the airspace…, and later posted the brief directive “Take action!” on its X account.
Although the breach was recorded on Tuesday, authorities confirmed the event occurred on November 1 and said monitoring continues to ensure the airspace remains secure.
