Giant Cornish Cabbage Grown at National Trust Estate Donated to Devon Animal Rescue
A massive 10kg Cornish Giant cabbage grown by gardeners at Buckland Abbey has been donated to a Devon rescue center to help feed hungry animals.
POLICY WIRE — Yelverton, UK — Gardeners at a National Trust property have produced a vegetable of immense proportions that is now supporting a local wildlife sanctuary.
The specimen, known as a ‘Cornish Giant,’ reached a staggering diameter of 1.2 meters and weighs more than 10kg, or approximately 22 pounds.
Due to its size, the cabbage was so large it could not fit into the largest wheelbarrow available at the Buckland Abbey estate in Devon.
While originally cultivated for a National Trust competition, the massive produce was instead donated to an animal rescue center to provide nourishment for their residents.
The staff at the Yelverton-based estate successfully grew the vegetable to help feed hungry animals at the sanctuary.
