El-Sayed Campaign Asks Stevens to Stay Away From Michigan Events
Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has asked rival Haley Stevens to disengage from campaign events to minimize distractions in the closing days.
POLICY WIRE — Detroit, USA — Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for Michigan’s closely contested U.S. Senate seat, has instructed his former primary opponent Rep. Haley Stevens to avoid attending his campaign gatherings.
According to two sources familiar with the decision who requested anonymity, the El-Sayed campaign formally asked the congresswoman to stay clear of all future events as the race enters its final days.
Politico first reported the development Friday night, noting that the move is intended to curb distractions stemming from the public rift between the two Michigan Democrats.
Stevens is also scheduled for a planned appearance that the campaign has now disinvited her from, according to the report.
The tension between the two candidates has intensified in the closing stage of the election, with observers concerned that their feud could impact the outcome of the key battleground race.
