Drone Incidents Cause Flight Disruptions at Jersey and Washington Airports
Drone activity near Jersey and Washington airports caused flight disruptions, including 20‑minute delays and flight diversions back to the UK.
POLICY WIRE — St. Helier, Jersey — Flights were disrupted last Saturday evening after drones flew near Jersey Airport, the airport and island chief minister said.
The drones prompted the diversion and cancellation of several flights, with three aircraft redirected back to the UK to avoid the aircraft’s approach.
Earlier in Washington, pilots spotted a drone over Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport’s active runway, causing air traffic to halt for roughly 20 minutes.
Air traffic control issued a general alert to all pilots, urging them to remain vigilant for any uncrewed aerial systems near the airfield.
