POLICY WIRE — Meopham, United Kingdom — English singer Lauren Bennett, best known for appearing on LMFAO’s 2011 smash “Party Rock Anthem,” was confirmed to have died by suicide after an inquest in Maidstone.
Bennett, 36, left her home that morning saying she would go for a walk, and her husband, Kenny Wormald, found her missing around 9 a.m. He and her father used a phone‑tracking app to locate her body in nearby woods.
Coroner Jyoti Gill noted that Bennett had been receiving care from specialised mental‑health services following a crisis in January 2026 and had been “sectioned” for several days.
The assistant coroner said she continued to experience “substantial psychological suffering” and “continued to report symptoms of distress regarding the effects of the prescribed medication” in the days before her death.
Richard Bennett, her father, told the court that his daughter had lived an amazing life, signing a record deal at 17 and moving to the United States on her own.
Kenny Wormald, a dancer and choreographer, and Bennett met while touring the U.S.; the couple later opened a dance studio in Los Angeles, the inquest heard.
Medical records indicated that Bennett had been diagnosed with the genetic disorder Fragile X before the family returned to the UK with their daughter.
She first broke through with the Paradiso Girls, whose 2009 single “Patron Tequila” charted in North America, before joining the pop group G.R.L in 2013. After the group dissolved following Simone Battle’s death, Bennett rejoined its later line‑ups in 2016 and 2020.
The LMFAO collaboration catapulted her to global fame, topping charts in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland and Australia.
Members of G.R.L announced her death, recalling her as a “beautiful spirit” who will be deeply missed.
Assistant coroner Gill ruled the cause of death as suicide by hanging.
