Wayne Rooney Slams Manchester United Squad as ‘Selfish’ Following Champions League Defeat
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney labels current players selfish and immature after Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez criticized coaching tactics.
POLICY WIRE — Manchester, United Kingdom — Manchester United’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney has launched a scathing critique of the current squad, labeling the players as selfish and comparing their behavior to that of babies.
The harsh assessment follows a disastrous 4-1 Champions League loss to Como on Wednesday. In the aftermath of the defeat, team captain Bruno Fernandes publicly questioned the tactical decisions made by the coaching staff.
Rooney expressed his frustration with the lack of accountability within the dressing room. He specifically urged both Fernandes and teammate Lisandro Martinez to reflect on their own performances rather than shifting blame.
The former striker emphasized that the group must accept collective responsibility for their recent struggles on the pitch. His comments highlight growing tensions at the club following the heavy European defeat.
