Milwaukee Brewers Face Backlash Over ‘Timeless Ticket’ World Series Seating
Brewers fans who purchased $1,000 'Timeless Tickets' in 2015 are protesting poor seat assignments for the team's first World Series appearance since 1982.
POLICY WIRE — Milwaukee, USA — A decade-old promotional campaign by the Milwaukee Brewers has sparked controversy as the team makes its first World Series appearance since 1982. Fans who invested $1,000 in the team’s Timeless Ticket program are now expressing frustration over the quality of seats provided for the championship games.
Rick Schlesinger, the Brewers’ president of business operations, admitted on Tuesday that the organization mishandled the logistics for these ticket holders. While the team successfully provided seats to all who requested them, Schlesinger acknowledged that the club failed to meet the expectations of the program, which had originally promised access to the best available locations.
Longtime fan Danny Fochesato, who purchased his ticket in 2015, noted that sales representatives had explicitly marketed the program as offering priority seating just behind season ticket holders. Instead, many participants were restricted to 400-level or standing-room options, even as better seats appeared available during the general public sale.
In an effort to resolve the dispute, the Brewers have announced that affected fans will be allowed to keep their World Series tickets while also retaining their Timeless Ticket status for future seasons. Schlesinger expressed regret for the internal communication errors and stated the team is working to ensure a better experience for those impacted.
