Germany Set to Unveil Major Nvidia AI Industrial Partnership
Germany prepares to announce a major industrial AI partnership with US chipmaker Nvidia next week, expanding robotics and autonomous tech integration.
POLICY WIRE — Berlin, Germany — The federal government is preparing to reveal a wide-ranging cooperation pact with US semiconductor giant Nvidia next week to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across domestic industries, according to government sources speaking on Friday, October 16.
Insiders confirmed that the upcoming initiative will feature participation from external partners alongside Nvidia, serving as a substantial advancement for industrial artificial intelligence applications.
German business newspaper Handelsblatt initially broke the news, reporting that the multibillion-euro physical AI initiative is slated for public unveiling during the Invest in Germany conference in Berlin, an event where Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang is expected to appear.
Sources familiar with the matter noted that the arrangement centers around the SOOFI project, which stands for Sovereign Open Source Foundation Models and was established in the country last year to foster large-scale AI development collaboratively.
The strategic alliance aims to support physical artificial intelligence technologies designed for training autonomous driving systems and advanced robots, while simultaneously building powerful artificial intelligence models tailored specifically for industrial environments.
