Former NBA guard Lonnie Walker IV has signed with Turkish club Besiktas and the EuroLeague following his recent release from the Denver Nuggets.
POLICY WIRE — Istanbul, Turkey — Former NBA guard Lonnie Walker IV has secured his next career move by signing with Turkish powerhouse Besiktas and the EuroLeague on Thursday.
The 27-year-old American shooting guard, who played college basketball at Miami, Florida, joins his new club just days after being waived by the Denver Nuggets earlier in the week.
Walker originally signed a one-year non-guaranteed contract with Denver in August and participated in the team’s training camp and preseason. During two preseason appearances for the Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets, he logged a total of 17 minutes and scored four points before his release.
Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul officially confirmed the acquisition of the 196cm perimeter player. His agent, Misko Raznatovic, also announced the move on social media, highlighting Walker’s return to European competition alongside a prior stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Drafted 18th in the 2018 NBA draft, Walker enters this new chapter as a seven-year league veteran. Throughout his career, he has logged 342 regular-season appearances across four different NBA teams.
