Netflix Cuts Nearly 1,000 Jobs in Major Workforce Reduction
Netflix slashes about 6 percent of its global workforce, eliminating nearly 1,000 positions as part of broader organizational changes and strategic shifts.
POLICY WIRE — Chicago, United States — Netflix has announced plans to reduce its global workforce by approximately 6%, eliminating nearly 1,000 roles as part of a sweeping corporate restructuring.
Co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters detailed the workforce reduction in an employee memo on Wednesday, noting that the company’s product, human resources, legal, and technology divisions will bear the heaviest impact.
While acknowledging that the choices were difficult, the executives emphasized that the company must remain disciplined regarding resource allocation and people priorities to drive future service enhancements and high-impact growth.
The streaming leader reported strong financial results for its second quarter, posting $3.4 billion in profit and $12.56 billion in revenue, marking respective increases of 9% and 13% over the prior year period.
Despite those figures, the company’s projections for the third quarter fell short of Wall Street estimates ahead of its scheduled earnings report next week.
Regulatory filings from the end of 2025 indicate that Netflix maintained a full-time workforce of approximately 16,000 employees globally prior to these cuts.
